We’re very familiar with the AOP here at First Option. Having been a photography, film and TV studio for over 30 years, we’ve had many wonderfully talented AOP members come and go through our studio. First Option Location Studio’s owner, Christine Hanscomb, has been a member of the AOP from the moment it began in 1968 and picked up an AOP award herself.

So, when it comes to their annual AOP Awards, we get all excited to see who they think are the best of the best.

Their 2018 Student Awards offered an insight into the next generation of photography students and their worldly perception through the lens. We couldn’t help but get in touch with Scottish photographer, Gavin Smart and ask him to feature in our Photographer Spotlight after spotting his work at the exhibition.

The Awards Presentation Party 2019 has now been and gone and the places have been picked but that doesn’t mean that that’s the end of it! Whittled down from over 2,000 entries, it’s about time you go and see the array of 240 finalist images for yourself. You may know who has won but, hey, that’s the beauty of photography; it’s subjective. You might just find your own winner.
