Pancake Day: What Do I Need?
This is your last minute warning to buy pancake supplies!
Pancake Day, also known as Shrove Tuesday, is the feast day immediately before Ash Wednesday which marks the start of the 40 days of Lent that lead up to Easter. Which is all very interesting, but more importantly it’s happening tomorrow and if you don’t have all the ingredients to hand then you’ll be sorry!
Luckily we’ve put together a handy shopping list so you can easily nip to the shops, grab everything you need and get home with plenty of time. So first things first!
Plain flour, you’ll need about 300 grams of the stuff to make roughly 6 pancakes so make sure you get enough to feed everybody! Remember it’s a feast.
You’ll need 2 per batch of 6 so one box should see you through a couple of disaster runs if needed.
Cow’s milk, coconut milk, oat milk or Soya, they all work well.
Butter, sunflower oil, margarine or coconut oil, pick your poison.
Banana, blueberries, strawberries, think sweet summer berries!
Ham, spinach and all the cheese!
Salt, sugar, honey, yogurt, date extract for a good(ish) alternative.
If you don’t have one get one! Remember to get a good flipper, so sturdy handle, not too heavy. Here’s a good one from the Lurpak commercial that was shot right here at First Option Studio!
So there you have it, everything you need for a pancake day to remember. Happy flipping guys!
